Job Overview

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with experience, selling at an ‘Enterprise’ level within the industrial sector (Mining and Manufacturing, Production Facilities, Business Solutions and Engineering Asset Management/ Capital Goods). Individuals who understand how to manage a long-sales cycle. We are looking for Consultative and Solutions based salespeople who can consult with clients about their potential and future needs in Maintenance Repair and Overhaul spares management. It is important that this candidate have 3 to 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management Consultancy, Sales Engineering/ Technical Sales, ICT, New Business Development and has a proven successful sales track record.

The incumbent must be of the extraverted HUNTER/ CLOSER persuasion with good interpersonal skills and excellent at relationship building. The ability to source new leads and generate new business is essential along with reaching and exceeding set sales targets. A current network or portfolio of relevant clients will be to your advantage.

RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Conduct market research and review and update on a regular basis, locally for South Africa and for other African markets
  • Drive sales activities through the full sales-cycle – serves clients by selling services and meeting client needs
  • Service existing leads, obtain orders, and establish new leads by actively approaching the market exploring opportunities
  • Administer and maintain sales management and reporting system
  • Contextualise template content of sales presentations to target the type of client, by industry and requirements
  • Focus sales efforts by studying existing and potential markets
  • Prepare proposals aligning to templates and existing offers
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual sales forecasts
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, services, new competitors, and sales techniques
  • Recommends changes in services and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and sales
  • Contributes to team effort through group selling
  • Align with Sales Agents and international relations

NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
• Daily prospecting for new business across all target markets
• Develop and maintain a company presence in the marketplace
• Provide prospective clients insight into the unique offerings of our client
• Ongoing assessments of new business opportunities
• Manage service offerings, pricing, and margins within agreed parameters
• Develop and implement strategies to penetrate identified clients and target markets

CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
• Build and maintain effective relationships with potential clients
• Ensuring CRM system is updated daily with new leads, opportunities, pipeline entries and conversions
• Resolving client enquiries quickly and effectively
• Coordinate site visits, technical support and factory tours educating clients on unique offerings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Current or past role in Maintenance Repair and Overhaul spares management WILL BE GIVEN PREFERENCE
  • Service Logistics, Supply Chain Management, and Spare Parts Management Solutions experience WILL BE GIVEN PREFERENCE
  • Sales training/ qualification
  • Driver’s License
  • Proven sales track record (3 TO 5 YEARS)
  • Come from an engineering/ technical industry background, capital goods/ physical asset management, supply chain management consultancy, ICT, and business solutions; and possess good business acumen.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experienced in sales, customer relations and engagement, preferably in the engineering sector
  • 1 year minimum as sales representative specifically
  • Great client service skillset to relate and build relationships – ability to build and service networks
  • Ability to engage actively with all levels of people – from operations to directors
  • Highly motivated and target driven – commitment, drive and meet sales goals
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills – professional image and self-confidence
  • Ability to recognise a sales opportunity and to translate a client need into a proposition
  • Affinity with, and solid understanding of the Engineering Asset Management, Service Logistics, ICT in general
  • Coordination and Management skills, ability to drive a lead form first contact to closure
  • Independency and responsibility, and function as a great team player
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft toolset

• Excellent verbal written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
• Have an aptitude to be become a product expert
