Head of Finance : Tourism

Job Overview

Our client – a reputable company in the Tourism sector, is in search for a Head of Finance – based in Cape Town 

Qualifications & required experience: 

  • B.Comm Degree or NQF equivalent
  • Completed SAICA articles
  • CPA is a strong advantage
  • SAICA registration 
  • 5 years post articles experience 
  • Exposure to Operational Management 
  • Must have the ability and experience in participating in a multi-disciplinary decision making body

Primary purpose:

  • To provide a financial management service to the business.
  • Effective risk management framework whilst effective planning 
  • Monitoring the organizations financial strategy in line with sound financial management 

Key Responsibilities

  • All balance sheet GL Accounts reconciled and verified – 100% accurate 
  • Review of income statement items to ensure accurate processing 
  • Invoicing according to the Online Booking System & collection according to the payment terms set with the client 
  • Ensure all bank accounts are processed and reconciled including company credit cards, petty cash account and guide accounts
  • Ensure that all suppliers including freelance service providers are paid in accordance with payment terms after ensuring accuracy of expense
  • Ensure accurate processing and payment of all employees and payroll related 3rd parties 
  • Financial reporting & internal controls in line with SAICA standards
  • Preparation of financial year end audit files and assisting audit staff
  • Implementation of financial procedures and streamlining processes to suit the workload volume of the company
  • All VAT and EMP201 submissions done on time in line with SARS
  • Ensure all IRP5 reconciliation is done in accordance with SARS regulation
  • Assisting on adhoc tasks as per deadlines and work scope given by CEO & CFO
  • Manage finance department to ensure that outputs are delivered according to KPI’s

  1. Control over Balance sheet and income statements items – 10% 
  2. Working Capital management – Debtors – 15%
  3. Working Capital management – Creditors – 10%
  4. Working Capital management – Bank accounts – 15%
  5. Payroll management – 10%
  6. Financial control and Audits – 10%
  7. Compliance to Statutory Legislation – 10%
  8. Office admin – 5%
  9. People management 15%
